Dirty Dancing – Podcast

In the fourth podcast for the Practice of Film Criticism 2021, Tash Cope and José Arroyo discuss Emile Ardolino’s 1987 teen classic Dirty Dancing. They cover the social importance of the film in terms of the issues it approaches, whether or not it is a musical, and the iconic performances of stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. After thirteen watches, Tash argues there is more to the film than energetic dance sequences and a catchy soundtrack.
